The Revista Cultura Agronômica / Agronomic Crop Journal (ISSN 2446-8355 - online version) is published quarterly by the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) / Campus of Ilha Solteira / Graduate Program in Agronomy.  

GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS

The Revista Cultura Agronômica / Agronomic Crop Journal aims to publish original scientific manuscripts, in the area of Agrarian Sciences and others; Scientific notes; Bibliographic reviews, the latter at the invitation of the Editor-in-Chief.

The Journal publishes manuscripts in the areas of Agronomy, Biology, Agricultural Engineering, Forest Engineering and Animal Science.

In the presentation of the manuscript, must be in compliance with the following requirements:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION

1. We recommend that the authors carefully consult the guidelines, because manuscripts that are not strictly in accordance with the rules will have an extended processing time.

2. Manuscripts can be published in Portuguese or English.

The publication of papers in English is recommended for greater visibility of the manuscripts. After, accepted for publication, authors who choose the manuscript in English, must send for review by specialized translators. In this case, the authors will be responsible for the English translation or revision fees.

3. Formatting and other details, which must be followed:

a) Manuscript must have the following structure: TITLE, ABSTRACT (maximum 250 words) and Keywords (maximum five); INTRODUCTION (containing updated literature review, hypothesis and research objectives. Two pages maximum); MATERIAL AND METHODS (describe in chronological order of research development); RESULTS AND DISCUSSION (interpret the results, explain and discuss based on other scientific papers); CONCLUSIONS (must respond clearly and succinctly to the proposed objectives); ACKNOWLEDGMENTS (optional item); REFERENCES (they must be in the vast majority of the last 12 years and scientific articles published in indexed jornals).

b) The TITLE, with a maximum of 20 words in Portuguese and English, should be succinct and reflect the research theme well.

c) In the registration of the manuscript it must contain: the full names of all authors, address for correspondence, scientific affiliation (Institution, Department, Section) and the author for correspondence (including his e-mail). However, in the file of the submitted version of the manuscript for processing, this information should not be included.

d) The ABSTRACT, up to 250 words, must be in a single paragraph and contain succinct information about the summary hypothesis (s) of the research, research objective (s), the experimental materials, the methods used (statistical design and treatments), the main results and the conclusion, and should not be loaded with numbers. Up to six keywords (preferably, which are not in the title) must be added at the end of both the abstract.

e) Manuscripts must have between 10 and 20 typed pages, including figures, tables and references. They should be written in the spacing of 1.0 between lines and have their pages and lines numbered. It must be edited in Microsoft Word or LibreOffice, and the submission file must be saved with the extension “.doc”, “.docx” or “.rtf”. Times New Roman 12 (or 10 for table footer / Figures) must be used in all text. The paper should be in A4 format and the bottom, top, right and left margins should be 2.5 cm. It is recommended to use the Submission Template file. Papers will only be sent in electronic form, after completing the registration on the journal page system.

f) Figures and Tables

Figures and Tables: the title must be above and numbered with Arabic numerals, and presented in the table module of Word, MS Excel or others. Tables, Tables, Figures / Graphs should be inserted in the text, right after cited.

The source must appear at the bottom and include the data in the list of references. When it is research data or elaboration of the manuscript author, the source must be indicated as: Own authorship or Research data.

In papers written in Portuguese, the statement and footer of the Tables, Tables and Figures / Graphs must also be translated into English, following the same numbering and structure. It is recommended to insert the part translated into English in italics after writing in Portuguese.

Figures and Tables should preferably be 7.65 cm wide, and should not exceed 16 cm. The digitized figures must have a resolution of 300 dpi.

Figures / Graphs: Numbered with Arabic numerals, they must be presented in Excel software or Program R or SigmaPlot or another compatible one.

Photographs: Must be provided in JPEG format.

The International System of Measures should be adopted. Equations must be edited using software compatible with the text editor. 

4. Presentation of Quotes at Work

 Text quotes

a. Citations of authors in the text are in lower case, followed by the year of publication in parentheses. In the case of authors and year in parentheses, names must be in capital letters. Ex: Oliveira (2014) or (OLIVEIRA, 2014).

b. In the case of up to three authors within the text, follow the example: Barbosa, Soares and Santos (2003) or mentioned in parentheses, follow the model: (BARBOSA; SOARES; SANTOS, 2003).

c. If there are more than three authors, only the first surname is mentioned, followed by et al. (in italics).

d. Personal communications, manuscripts in progress and unpublished should be avoided, however, they can be cited by placing, after the text and in parentheses, the expression “verbal information” and complementary data in a footnote in a smaller font size than the text, not should appear in the References.

Ex: At the end of the semester it was found that there was a significant behavioral change between species (verbal information)¹

5. References

References are standardized according to the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards - ABNT (NBR 6023/2002). They must be presented in:

• Alphabetical order by author's last name;

• Left aligned;

• Two or more authors, separated by (;)

• Journal titles should not be abbreviated;

• It is recommended to quote the name of all authors, to facilitate the search for papers.

• Documents consulted online - it is the authors' obligation, in addition to the essential and complementary elements, to mention the electronic address and the date of access, preceded by the expressions: "Available at:." and "Access on: day month year" (ABNT - NBR 6023/2018).

 COMMENTS

In the manuscript submission, the minimum indication of 03 (three) full names of possible evaluators in the research area, with a minimum doctoral degree, containing the address of the workplace, areas of performance and e-mail. The purpose of this is to increase the number of reviewers of the journal and not necessarily that they evaluate the submitted manuscript of the informing author.
