PSYCHOSOCIAL FACTORS AND THE HEALTH-DISEASE PROCESS AT WORK: REFLECTIONS ON CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY

Abstract

This article is an essay on wage labor and the psychosocial factors that currently constitute it. Given the evident centrality of labor in human existence, it is urgent to discuss its relation to the subject and its impacts on the worker’s subjectivity in a neoliberal capitalist society. From both micro and macrosocial perspectives, the article addresses psychosocial factors in the workplace and their impact on workers’ health, based on the scientific literature in the field of psychology. It highlights the complexity of labor relations in contemporary capitalist society, as well as the corrosive aspects of the society of performance and exhaustion.
