Abstract

The objective of this Article is to present a description of a teaching activity, which took place in Math and Science classes, with students from the 9th year of Middle School, in a public school in Tijucas region, in the state of Santa Catarina, during the month of November 2013. The developed activity, described in this article, occurred with the use of a virtual simulator in order to study the topic slope, as well as the use of functions in the approach of a physical phenomenon. For a better understanding of functions, an experiment of physics, that represents a body in scrolling on a slope was first conducted. In general, the results showed that the students perceived the importance of the use of mathematics in the development of the phenomena explained by physics and, consequently, its importance in their learning.
