ONLINE PARTICIPATION AND CITIZENSHIP: AN ANALYSIS OF THE WEB PRESENCE OF SOCIAL ENTITIES ON THE SITE PORTAL COMUNITÁRIO

Abstract

This paper proposes a survey of presence points of the entities covered by the journalistic site Portal Comunitário, which is presented as an extension project and web-newspaper laboratory of the Journalism Course at Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa (UEPG/PR). The goal is to determine which entities communicate through other online means, thus expanding its range of interaction and participating more actively in the process of democratization of the media to exercise their right to communicate. The adopted method was to seacrh for of the names of entities in Google and social networks. As a result one can see that there is disparity regarding the number of points of presence on the Internet among the entities, which reveals that some are more interested in reaching the general public than others, and it also gives evidence of unequal access to the digital means. This survey analyzes the role of the project Portal Comunitário in providing visibility to social demands and in the improvement of the network developed by the digital media.
