Abstract

Univali develops the Extension Program “Para Saber Viver” (to know how to live) which is a multidisciplinary work involving teachers and students in health, education and communication areas. The program aims at developing integrated educational actions for basic needs such as information, education and health. So, a group of teachers and students in Social Communication course is responsible for planning and carry out the communication acts of the program. They develop a newspaper called Diz Aí (say), and also other productions such as posters and fliers, radio program and internal communication. These actions have provided the integration of teams that work on the projects and socialize the purposes of the program with the communities involved. It also leads to a reflection on the role that communication plays in the university extension. The experience has helped professionals involved to understand that Communication is an activity that promotes strategies for dissemination of ideas, increase relationships and integration with the various public involved with the program, essential to educational actions involving thematic education, health and citizenship in an integrated way.
