Abstract

This article is a suggestion of experimental activities integrated to computational activities in the teaching of electromagnetism as a didactic resource for the understanding of electromagnetic induction based on a research carried out at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Tocantins (IFTO), located in city of Palmas, in Tocantins, with thirty students from four classes: one from third year and three from fourth year of high school. This research has a partnership with the University of Vale do Taquari (UNIVATES), located in Lajeado-RS. The methodological architecture of these activities was built based on qualitative techniques. Its objective is to develop activities with students of the 3rd year of High School through the integration between simulations and real experiments involving the subject electromagnetic induction. The material elaborated and proposed in this practice, the POE (Predict, Observe and Explain) guides, proved to be efficient, since it made it possible to promote interaction among students and with instructional resources. The material also allowed the negotiation of meanings among the students and with that it was possible to evaluate their understanding in relation to the concept of electromagnetic induction. At the end of the intervention process it was noticed that the students evaluated this procedure (through the final questionnaire) in a positive way and that integrating real experimentation with computer science to better understand the concepts about electromagnetism is an alternative of motivational teaching, which instigated them to curiosity. In this way, it is concluded that integrating experimental activities with computational activities promotes students' interaction in the accomplishment of their studies. It is believed that this teaching method, which integrates experimental activities and computational activities developed by students and teachers, is appropriate to the new times of education, when seeking the understanding of the world through experience and technology.
